Mari Lyons (1935–2016), studied at Mills College with Max Beckmann and Fletcher Martin. She received her BA at Bard College where she studied with Louis Schanker, Ludwig Sander and Stefan Hirsch. Later she studied at Atelier 17 with Stanley William Hayter, and at the Grand Chaumiere, Yale-Norfolk Art School with Bernard Chaetand Gabor Peterdi. Lyons received her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, where she studied with Zoltan Zepeshy and Madison Fred Mitchell. Her work is represented in Climate Central Foundation, The Museum of the City of New York, Montana State University Library, Rider University, the DeGolyer Library (SMU), The New York State Museum (Albany), Reynolds Community College, Montana Museum of Art & Culture and elsewhere, and in more than 120 private collections.
